The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) is an international judicial body established by the European Convention on Human Rights. Located in Strasbourg, France, the ECHR adjudicates on violations of the civil and political rights set out in the Convention. Individuals, groups, or states can bring cases before the Court if they believe their rights have been violated by one of the 46 member states of the Council of Europe.
